in '41 Sheffield was blitzed i was nine and was living at home with my mother whilst my dad was in the army! one night we heard the air raid sirens and we went to the cellar outside the house and hid there for all night but an insendry bomb hit the top of the house but it didnt explode but then it fell onto the cellar grate and then exploded! we were so scared because the wodden board was starting to burn through onto the grate and then it could have burn through the grate and into the cellar! but as our next door neighbour was on fire watch, Mr. Nailer was his name, he was so brave because he reached into the phosphorus bomb and put a bucket on top and ultimately saved my life!
