I was playing out in Platt Street which is off St. Mary's Road. There was a farm at the top of the street, and I was playing on a cart from the farm. When a plane came flying over right over our heads.
People later told us it was a German plane and we were told that it had fired on people down near Ferranti's.
It was so close to the ground that we could see the German insignia.
I also remember just after the Manchester Blitz being in bed one night when suddenly we heard a bang and a flash which seemed to come right through the brick work. The next morning we found out that Pearson Street in Miles Platting had suffered the bombing. I think some people might have been killed or injured. I was only nine years old at the time.
My mum sent me off to Grandma's because she though this was safer.
