Listening out on the radio for the sound of the bombers with our call signs. Call signs is where each station could recognise whether it was one of their planes and then could send them instructions. One night she heard a very faint call MAYDAY which means distress signal and we just knew there was a problem with the plane. SO in order to bring this unidentified plane into their airfield, Peggie working in the control tower. This pilot after landing came to peggies control tower to thank her, she cant remember where he came from, but was very pleased to help.
They also used to hear on their radios Beethoven which they believed was a call from the 大象传媒 to tell the french resistance to listen out!
When it was foggy they used to put three search lights together as a direction for their pillots but they had to be careful that the german bombers didnt follow these lights in.
