Charlie's bus was a twenty seater he ran every hour from Saxilby to the Brayford Pool in Lincoln. You had a weekly ticket and could use it as many times as you wished.

As everywhere was blacked out, Charlie was only allowed to use small lights which had shades over them and shone directly onto the road, no more than a cycle battery light.

Considering there were no road markings, the journeys were difficult in bad weather and fog.

Charlie was a good driver and always got us there. A lot of us lads would use the bus to go into Lincoln to the pictures from time to time. We used to go to the Regal Cinema. Littlewoods is now where teh cinema used to be.
