Vera the Virgin and crew

When it became popular to add a little personal touch to your aircraft, we joined in by christening out kite 鈥榁era the Virgin鈥. The was all dressed up as a stereotypical French 鈥榣ady of the night鈥 and, instead of adding pictures of bombs after each mission, we added little red lanterns. All was well until the arrival of a new Commanding Officer.

鈥淕et it off! It鈥檚 immoral!鈥

I have never understood how flying over Germany and France with a picture of a profession Frenchwomen could be deemed immoral; not when you thought of why we were over there in the first place! They were strange times!
