Dancing on the air raid shelters in Albert Square. As nurses at Hope Hospital, I and three friends were given a lift by some off duty Doctors. We were lifted up to the air raid shelters. The square was packed, everyone in great good spirits, singing and dancing. It was impossible to get a drink, so we piled into the Doctor鈥檚 little 鈥淛alopies鈥 just where they鈥檇 left them and drove back to the hospital and made a bonfire of broken furniture, thrown out after the blitz on the tennis court.
