my father was in the ramc and landed at arromanche a few days after d-day. he was trained as a nurse ans specialised in mental illness. he was vague about his places of service. however he was in belgium during the battle if the bulge and was told he had "volunteered" to stay behind in the hospital if the germans broke through! later he was in Kortrik, Belgium and was billetted with a family named HALVOERT. I have photos of the family and have made some efforts to trace any surviving members, so far without succes. Later he was sent to BERGAN-BELSAN to assist in the care of the prisoners. He never talked about this time. i saw the recent film on 大象传媒 D-day to Berlin and saw an interview with ARTHUR WOODS who was also in the RAMC and was in BERGAN -BELSAN.After the end of the war my father stayed on in Europe and was discharged finally in 1946 with the rank of sargeant. If through this web site you could pass on my contact details to Arthur Woods and ask him to contact me i would be very grateful.
