They came across the world 12,000 miles
To fight for our freedom they came young with smiles
Leaving their families so far away.
Our commonwealth sent them for a long stay.
He was a man of medium height
Kindness, happiness illuminated on sight,
Smiling face eyes of blue,
Showing all his love for you,
He could dance holding you right,
The feeling of tenderness all around
He was a joy to love oh so proud.
It was with sadness on the February day
That Bill was killed on his way to France.
The plane hit a hill they had no chance
So now he is here forever
Stays in our hearts for ever and ever
Buried in Brookwood with his friends,
He lies in his grave under the trees
Knowing the war for them ends
Let’s hope now we will live in peace.
