Iworked at the Woolston yard and was in the Home Guard, called the Z batteries at Netley outside Southampton
When the siren sounded the battery would fire our salvo which consisted of a battery of 12 rockets.
During one of these raids we hit a german aircraft causing great damage. As the aircraft came down, there was a anti aircraft battery nearby who also fired at the aircraft
The aircraft landed in the sea.
When we tried to claim the kill we were told that the battery had claimed the kill also so we were only awarded half a kill a piece.
