This is Kathryn Sewell of Southmoor school entering Jean Brown's story onto the website and they fully understand the website's terms and conditions of use.

Dureing the war we had a young evacuee come to live just down the street from us. H e was allways talking about how our area was'nt as good as London and how much he missed it. Well one day my dad got tired of hearing "this isnt as good as london's this" and "London has a better that" so he quietly went over to the boy and whisperd in his ear "well i bet you dont have cats that lay eggs in London!"
The boy was asstounded he told my dad that it was impossible so he said "well i havn't checked our cat today why dont you go see if its laid any yet." So the boy went off and found the cat and called back that it hadn't. So he was told to come back the next day and check if he wanted. This went on for weeks the boy came every day to see if our cat had laid any eggs. Until one day my father saw the boy comeing down the road to check the cat so he ran and got an egg out of the kitchen and put it underneath the cat. When the boy walked in my dad was sitting as useall with his pipe and his morning paper and the boy came in and asked if the cat had laid any eggs today and my dad said that he hadnt checked yet so he didnt know. So the boy skipped off to find the cat. Well when he came back into the room he was as white as a sheet, holding the cat in one hand and the egg in the other. We all burst into fits of laughter just at the look on his face. He was terrified of our cat after that and he never bragged about London again either.
