鈥淲hen my father was a lad of about 13 or 14 years of age, before his evacuation, he lived in Camden Town. One night, a bomb was dropped into the back garden of his home and the whole back wall of his house was blown off. He was sleeping in a back room and that too had its wall blown off but he was completely unaware of this, because he slept straight through. He only became aware, when he was woken by his mother who was violently shaking him, thinking that he was dead. But in fact, he was simply fast asleep.鈥
