My Mum was brought up in a childrens home In Egham,Surrey. She had one elder brother called John or Jack and an elder sister Known as Rose (first name Amelia). She had a younger brother called Sidney who had died at about the age of nine from scarlett fever. Her Mother had epilepsy and at the age of three my Mum unfortunaely managed to pull the full, hot gravy boat onto her chest by dragging the table cloth toward her. She was then taken into care with her sister(rightly or wrongly as it was the the 1930's)in Egham and that is where they stayed until they were able to go out to work.
