I was walking along Rawson Road with my friend, Dan Creamer, when we heard an explosion on the beach. I raced across Crosby Road into Potters Barn and down to the beach. I found a policeman, picking up pieces of a young boy who had walked onto the landmines. He asked me to help and I saw part of the child鈥檚 foot and skin on the barbed wire and decided I couldn鈥檛 stay. The boy had crawled through the wire to retrieve his football.
