Shoe brushes belonged to Jack Gibson and were part of an escape equipment pack.
Jack Gibson was shot down during a raid on Sharnhorst on 24th July 1941. He was captured and held prisoners from July 1941 to April 1944. Jack was a member of the 'Tally Ho' escape club committee.
Jack finally escaped during the closing stages of the war.
In July 1981 the entire crew returned to RAF Lynton for a reunion.
They were greeted with the words 'Welcome home you are 40 years late'
Jack Gibson died on 5th June 1997 aged 80
