My Grandma was 21 years old and working in Napiers Aircraft Factory on the East Lancs. Road in Liverpool when the news reached her that the war was over. She and all her friends at the factory couldn't believe that peace had finally come after so long as all of her brothers and many friends were still fighting abroad. My Grandma lived in a pub in Liverpool with all her family and when she came home that night there was a fantastic party to celebrate. She can not, unfourtunately, recall much else about the day cos she was drunk out of her skull! (Just a joke Grandma!)
