During the summer holidays from school, freinds and myself would go over the farm were my dad work..and we would help get the corn in,,we would help stack it..after it had been cut.this particular morning,we could hear earoplane engines.which would happen time to time as the spitfire would take off from hornchurch airfield...but they had a diffrent engine tone, one off the planes went a little high and they where german, frighters,,my dad throw me and some mates under the cart that they where loading the corn on..these fighters shot at us..then the houses.and went onto shooting romford gas works..
during the blists we had ach ach guns up the top off our road..and when they started firing at the enemy bombers, durring a air raid, the ground shook,so did the dugout..
one day my mum and me where coming home from the shops..we was between air raid shelters, when the sierens went..we could see a doodle bug coming towards the shops but at that moment a spitfire got his wing under it and tilted it away, and it grashed in the park.and save the shops..he was a brave pilot..
