This story was submitted to the Peoples War site by John Seaman.
My parents were both factory workers during the war and had their baby daughter looked after by a relative during the day.
They had both finished work for the day and were pushing the baby home in the pram when they heard and felt an explosion, in panic they took shelter in a bus shelter thinking it was a bomb attack.
The next day they heard that the explosion was actually a train carrying ammunitions had caught fire in the docks. Only the quick actions of the train driver saved anyone from being seriously hurt by the explosion.
