My father told me about his time with the 8th Amy. He was a tank driver, Bullet in the head came home on the 'Queen Mary'.Decks with other wounded, fried eggs and cooked on the shell of the tanks in the dessert. My aunt had seven sons she was bombed at her home, she was having a baby and wanted a girl, through injuries she lost her leg and lost the baby. My aunt lost her leg to save the baby, but the baby died, she was never told what sex the baby was. This all happened while her husband was on fire watch. When my aunt was a young girl she was voted in a competition, and won the best legs competition, how ironical, but she never lost her spirit or courage.
