Among the hills in valleys sweet
The trees are green with every leaf
In the night when darkness creeps
through the vally the stars doth peep.

No towns or cities light the air
no sweet girls to speak or dare
You often wonder when and where
you'll see a girl so fine so fair.

Your life is all so compact
I know it's true that's a fact
There's nothing there to counteract
the sign of the humped black cat.

Give me the stars, the night
the city or town filled with life
It makes your thoughts flicker out
and your heart fills with delight.

(the humped black cat referrs to the badge of 17th Indian Division)
