I was eleven in August 1939, about a month before the war started. I lived with my parents, one sister and two brothers in Shoreham-by-sea, Sussex.I can clearly remember lots of things that happened during the war years there on the Sussex coast. Our memories being what they are, I probably couldn't tell you what happened last week right under my nose, here in Western Australia where I have lived for the last fortyfive years. As soon as I was eighteen in 1946 I went into the army and served two and a half years in REME, most of the time being spent in Germany.I finally got home during the blockade of Berlin, after it was decided that world war three wasn't about to start and de-mob, which had been frozen at the beginning of the blockade recomenced.
I had a great deal of fun writing my life story which I self published. Although I am told it is a good read, like a lot of these things it was a finacial disaster.
