These stories were collected by Val Potter, Activities Organizer of Age Concern, Hellifield in 1990.

Val felt history would be lost if the stories were not committed to paper and interviewed several older members of the Hellifield community at that time.

Now, fifteen years later, the original contributors are all dead but Val and Age Concern Hellifield feel thay would have been happy to have their memories preserved on the People's war website.

If surviving family members have any discomfort about the stories of their relatives being used in this way, the stories can be removed from the site immediately.
