My name is Stephanie McKee.
My interest in the People's War (World War 2) is because my father who sadly died last year, had served in WW2 in the RAF as an air gunner. Hence my member name of great gunneralan. At that time he was living in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh and had 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Two of his brothers also served during the war (the youngest was too young at the time!), and two of his sisters were in the Wrens.
My father never liked to talk too much about his memories of the war, mainly I think because his best friend who signed up with him died during service, along with a lot of his friends.
I have some great photo's taken of him during his war days, which hold some great memories for me and my mum and the rest of our family. This will be passed down through generation. This is why I think it is imoportant to hear people's stories which our younger generations will have for years to come.
I always took great pride when my father marched on Remberance Day wearing his medals, one of which was the St George's Cross.
