Born 16th February 1933 in Liverpool, I spent the first six years of my life with my parents. It was the outbreak of WWII on 3rd September 1939 that I was evacuated to North Wales.
After a period of instability, I returned home in 1942 and saw the end of the war at 10 Malden Road, Liverpool. In 1945 we moved to 39 Downham Road, Lower Tranmere, Birkenhead. I attended Temple Road Secondary School near Tranmere Rovers Football ground (they didn鈥檛 have stadiums then) and stayed with my parents until 1949 when we moved to 16 Carlton Avenue West, North Wembley, Middlesex. Due to domestic difficulties, I moved out to live with my Uncle Jim, Auntie Lil and Pat at R.A.F Henlow Camp Bedfordshire.
Staying with my Aunt and Uncle was a prelude to an intention to immigrate to Australia, having made my application. It was the frantic cries from my Mother to my Uncle Jim, beseeching him to dissuade me from going to Australia that caused him to persuade me to join the Royal Air Force. Basic training at Bridgenorth, technical training at Melksham, I was posted to Mamby, Struby, Lincolnshire, Cluntoe, Northern Ireland. Posted overseas to Fayed, El Hamra, Shallufa, Egypt. Served at R.A.F Khartoum, Sudan, transferred to The Aden Protectorate Levies, RAF Khormasker, Aden. Returned home in 1955. Married an Italian girl, named Giulia Prete in Italy 1961, fathered two boys Mark and Paul, divorced in 1980 and married my present wife Celia with who I now live in Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire, United Kingdom.
Two Sons no daughters and four Grandchildren.
