I am the daughter of two British immigrants to New Zealand. My parents emigrated from the UK as children. My search is really to find out as much as I can about the history of my family and the part they played in the war. Being an immigrant family there is a sense of being 'cut off' from the culture from which my parents came. All my grandparents are gone now and I would like to be able to give my children the stories of that generation. So I am looking for any information regarding any of the following people. Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer, I really appreciate it!
My grandfather: Douglas Donald Raalo Hill (may have served under the surname Smith ) He was in the merchant navy, was on a ship that took Churchill to Malta?
My Uncle: James Moffat, was in the Royal Navy.
My Uncle: Bernard "Bud" Purcell, army, I believe he went to Burma.
All came from Lancashire.
