The CSV Action Desk at 大象传媒 Radio Sheffield has recruited over 30 volunteer story gatherers who helped to collect memories for the People's War project.
Our volunteers were involved in gathering stories in their local communities, organising and attending events, staffing the 大象传媒 Yorkshire People's War Line and all aspects of the story gathering process from sending out story forms to typing up stories and scanning photographs then entering them onto the website.
We held a great event on 15th October - The North Derbyshire Family and Local History Fair at the Winding Wheel in Chesterfield. There were over 40 family history and local history groups from around the region exhibiting and it was attended by around 1500 members of the public. The Radio Sheffield People's War volunteer team stewarded the event and did an excellent job of promoting the project. We also managed to raise nearly 拢400 for the Pakistan Earthquake Appeal, so a great day all in all.
In November 2005, Roger Marsh and William Ross volunteers with 大象传媒 Radio Sheffield鈥檚 Actiondesk in partnership with the CSV each received a 鈥榊ear of the Volunteer鈥 medal, struck by the Royal Mint, for work that they had carried out on the People's War Project. The medals were presented, at the Town Hall, Sheffield by the Lord Lieutenant, the Queen鈥檚 representative, in the presence of the Lord Mayor of the City of Sheffield.
At February 01, 2006 we have dealt with over 820 storytelling enquiries and have added 1,623 stories including well over 550 photographs to the website.
