I volunteered for the RAF in May '42 and was called up in August of that year at the age of 18.
My first posting was Boston for 'Square Bashing'
and then to Leeds for Radio Theory Traing.(Billeted at 16 Woodland View, Chappel Allerton) Then to Bolton, Lancs for Equipment training. (Billeted with a Mrs. Whitaker 1 Backbradford st.)
I was then posted to Blackpool to await draft for an overseas posting.
I landed eventually in India and spent 3 years in the following postings
Trichinopoly (South India) Jan - March '44
Yellahanka April - May '44
Oct - July '45
Kolar Jun - Sept '44
Ranchi Aug '45 Aug - '46
The last three stations were Mosquito conversion units.
I returned to the UK early October '46 and had brief postings to various stations uncluding a very pleasant posting to Manston.
If anyone should remember me or was stationed at any of these I should be keen to hear from you.
