My Grandfather Corporal Sidney Ferris was in the Tower Hamlets 10th [2nd Bn.The Tower Hamlets Rifles]Bn.

He came from Forest Gate , East London and died in Algeria on December 22nd 1943 in a road accident.

He was buried in Bone War Cemetary by his comrades.

My Dad never knew him as he was only 3 months old at the time of his [Sidney's] death.

As I get older and the memories of WW2 become more prevalent through TV and films rather than actual family knowledge, I have begun to feel a sense of shame that I don't know more about my own grandad who died serving his country and have come on here to find out a bit more about what he did, where he fought and who with.
I know very little about him or his tragic accident other than he was involved in a lorry/truck turning over in the night by a river and died at the scene.
