My name is Doris Tomlin nee Puckering and I am now 77. I was evacuated 65 years ago when I was 11, from London to Dittisham in Devon. There, my sister and I spent 3 happy years untroubled by air raids, bombs and rations.
I am married with 1 daughter and 2 grandchildren, who both attend a Primary School in Birmingham.
My grand-daughter, aged 8, has been learning all about WW2 as her history topic so I agreed to go into school and tell the children about my experience of evacuation. They were so fascinated I have decided to post my story on this site to share it with others.
