I was born in 1953, some years after the second world war ended but grew up hearing my fathers tales of his experiences during those years. Since his death I have heard other, less amusing, accounts of his experiences in France and Germany in the later years of the war. If anyone knew him and can tell me anything about him, I would be very grateful. His name was Alfred Webb. He served in the Royal Artillery and was stationed in Orkney and later went to Germany in July 1944.
