Until the first winter of the War, we lived in South London, waiting for my father to be relocated to Swindon. We lived out the War in Swindon which, despite its being the home of the Great Western Railway's main works and repair shops, received very little attention from German bombers. I am putting together my war recollections in a series of articles to be submitted to this archive.
Since leaving the Royal Navy after five years of service, I have been living in the USA, mainly in the Washington, DC area. I trust readers will be tolerant of any "Americanisms" that may show up in my writing.
