My name is Barbara and I am 74 years old. Originally, I was born and brought up in Bristol but after I got married to my husband, who was from Liverpool, I moved up to Cheshire where I am now living. I had a daughter and now have two grandchildren who live in Manchester with their parents. We see each other quite frequently when I stay with them.
While I was in Dorset, my parents looked after my two youngest siblings. My parents worked hard to give us a decent standard of living. My father had been in World War One and was too old to fight in this one. My mother, a housewife, looked after my younger brother and sister. I was only a child at this time, so unfortunatly, I can't remember that much but I do know that Bristol was bombed very badly. Also, I remember that every time an air-raid occured we all had to rush into the Anderson shelter, whether it was night or day. It was not pleasent at all!
