I was born in mid 1941 so you may consider my memories of the war time very limited. I do however, have very vivid memories of the time - but they are not necessarily the ones people would consider important.
My father was Garrison Adjutant of Bulford Camp when I was born in Salisbury Hospital. In truth I saw very little of my father - he did not return home till 1947 and he was then posted to India and then Malaya in 1953. He was not really at home till he came out of the Army in 1955.
The stories I will write will be little snippets but they will give some idea of the impressions of a very young boy who did not understand the word "war" until it was long over. I received a very slight war wound from enemy action early in 1942 but I knew nothing of it till I was told after the war.
I was very fortunate in that both of my parents lived into their nineties and helped to make sense of some of the early events. I will be careful to differentiate between my memories and what I was told.
