My interest in the war came about when I was a young mum. I had grown up with the knowledge of my dad having been a P.O.W. but he didn't talk much about his experiences. When my grandparents died my dad found the original telegrams from the home office telling them that their son was "missing" in Singapore but may be temporarily seperated from his regiment or maybe a prisoner of war.
It was about a year later when they recieved another telegram from the home office saying that he was in a camp.
When I read the telegrams I felt real emotion as a mother (my grandma) would have felt reciving this news and there my interest and understanding of my dad started. A few years later Tenko was on the television and that gave me the questions to ask my dad more of his experiences. I will write more in the 'stories section' and will look forward to reading others experiences. Linda
