My Grandfather fought in Crete towards the end of the campaign there. When his New Zealand commanders surrendered he was taken prisoner and transported through Yugoslavia to Southern Austria. He ended up in Stalag XVIIIA in Wolfsberg.

Although I don't know a lot about his experiences I know that it was not a nice time for him. Many soldiers he was with contracted dysentery and some died on the journey to Austria. If there is anyone who has experiences of Stalag XVIIIA and the journey from Crete to Austria I would love to hear them so that I can fill in some of the gaps in my Grandfather's story.
