I was in London all through the War and was lucky enough to survive the Blitz. We lived in Abbey Street, Bermondsey. My dad was a driver for Pickfords in Tower Bridge Road. Each night mom, dad, myself and two grandmothers would go to the shelter in Pickfords - the grandmothers were getting on in years, but they never grumbled. The night the City was fired we had to leave our shelter because the building above us was on fire due to incendiary bombs. I went to St. Saviour's and St. Olaves Grammar School at the Bricklayers Arms. I would be delighted to hear from anyone who lived in that area.
