I am a concerned Granddaughter of a man who used to work at Porton Down. My Grandfathers name was Ernest Alan Senior he worked as a civilian at Porton down during the second world war.He would be quite memerable as he owned a dog called Hamlet which was a great dane my Grand father did used to tell us tales as children how this dog would go round the mess hall begging for food.He was drafted from university where he was studying Maths and Physics. He married a lady called Constance Thorpe towards the end of the war and will have been in his early twenties at this time.He enjoyed amiterdramatics and Ibelive smoked a pipe as well as ciggerettes.
We were told by him that he worked on designing gun mechanisms and that was all we got told as he would always say I can not discuss what I did during the war as he had signed the official secrets act. Over the last few years we have collect basic info which leds us to believe that he was involved in some of the chemical testing. what we do not know is wether this was as a scientist or as a volentier. I do remember from an early age that grandad went every year for tests up until at lest 1996 for what we do not know. He was riddled with arthritis on an enormass amount of drugs he was also a constant brown and yellow colour with heart complaints and other medical problems relating to his vital organs. He suffered bad nightmares and as a result did not sleep for long periods. My mother had a very traumatic up bringing at the hands of my Grandfather and has had a breakdown as a result of this and what has come out since his death .I want to be able to tell Mum why he was like he was as It is believed that this will aide her recovery. If any one has any info please contact me on Cccmuppet@aol.com {no spam please} this is really important to my whole family.
