Has any body researched the german bomber which crashed fully loaded with bombs and well alight ,on the night of A pril 19 1941,this date I have been told.My mother and I were living in no 1 Titchill cottages Church lane Sompting SUSSEX.t the bomber came low over our cottage as i looked through the bedroom window. There was hard frost outside,it being the time of a blackthorn winter. As the roaring plane passed i saw a man standing in the cockpit doorway i was terrified as the flames were leaping around him. a short time later we heard the crash, and watched as the flames lit up the night sky.Later farmhands must have arrived as t here was shouting,Leechpool farm and cottages were about half a mile ,up on the downs. The bombs went off all night and one of the german crew was alive and called out camarad'but he died of his injuries.I did not see the wreck towed away,or the 4 very young crew buried in Sompting churchyard, but i shall never forget that night.
