My name is Ann Cregan. My father is now 85 & served in RAF Bomber Command from around 1920 - 1945/6 as Flight Sergeant Walter Butcher. He was a wireless operator on Lancs, mainly in 44 Squadron. Recently he has been talking more & more about his memories of the war, so before this site closes I want to try and record some of the more interesting ones. If anyone out there remembers him we'd love to hear from you.
Sadly Mum. Olive Butcher, died 10 years ago, but recently I've found some articles she wrote for her local history group so I'm using her 'wartime wedding' article.
During a lot of the war she worked for the Tottenham Libraries in the children's dept. I found a few manuscript notes about this made in 1994 but can't find the finished article! Any offers of more info?
