Bemerton Local History Society is a recently established group based in Bemerton, on the western side of Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK. Bemerton is now part of an expanded city of Salisbury, but it was historically a separate and thriving village community. The Local History Society is interested in exploring and researching all aspects of Bemerton's history.
The group have been awarded Lottery funding to undertake activities and research relating to World War II, and are working towards publishing a booklet "Wartime Memories of Bemerton". We are interested to hear from anyone who spent time during the War in Bemerton, and have already established contact with a number of evacuees from Portsmouth who were sent here.
