Hello
My name is Dee and I am the daughter of Trouper Stanley Hodson. Stan was born in Harrow in 1924 and during the war served in North Africa and Italy in the 51st Royal Tank Regiment as a gunner. I believe thay he stayed on after the war until 1947, probably with the Derbyshire Yeomanry.
I am trying to contact anyone from these regiments to hear their experiences as I am putting together infomation that I can pass to my two sons, who will, inevitably ask "what did my grandad do in the war?"
Dad told me a few funny stories, many that have been confirmed by reading other peoples' accounts eg hard boiled eggs and shoe-shine boys in the desert. He also fell in love with Italy and I have a lot of memorabilia, postcards, photos etc.
I also have campaign books and comic books that relate to the Italian and North African campaigns.
What I don't have is someone to answer my questions as they occur to me, as Stan has now passed away. It would be fantastic if anyone knew my father and could remember him, or could fill in the gaps for me as to how things really were.
