I became interested in the RAF's role in WWII when I inherited my uncle's medals in 1985. He was lost in 1944 and his body never found. I spent some 12 yrs researching his time with the RAF, culminating with the finding of his aircraft and remains in 1997. He was killed whilst flying with 161 (Special Duties) Squadron, dropping SOE agents into occupied Europe.
Whilst I still research the RAF in WWII I take particular interest in the SOE and SIS operations flown by these special squadrons.
