The Two Weekends dance festival takes place from 10th to 12th and 17th to 19th November at various venues across Hull.

Choreographer Manuela Berndt persuades performers and audience to explore the physical impact of live voice and rhythmic union between dancers and singers. She will be working with the Leeds based Dance Company, Nordic Allure.

The Body and The Voice
WORKSHOP RESIDENCY
BODY AND VOICE – one instrument, a million possibilities

Prior to the performance of Corpus in Tone, Nordic Allure will embark on aÌý two-day workshop at Andrew Marvell Business & Enterprise College. Led by company members, the workshop offers young people to experience an innovative type of dance performance and physically engage with sound to identify the purpose of harmony, rhythm and arrangement.

This workshop explores the possibilities of voice and text. It is for adults with a previous experience of dance, dance students and dance professionals and will be led by Adam Ledger and Jill Dowse directors of The Bone Ensemble.

‘Shirt’ is a piece about people who enjoy dancing, or watching it, or the ones who say they don’t enjoy it but are kings and queens of the dance floor after a few drinks.

The dancers explore everyday situations where people may dance and let their imagination run loose in personal rituals, silly moves and fake moustaches.

Playing in the Light is a tour of films all about the way we see. The tour's focus on ideas of race and identity asks questions about the way the modern world is framed.

This specially selected sequence of artists' film, brings together some of the very best artists, choreographers, dancers and musicians working in this collaborative field of filmmaking.

An evening of contemporary Bollywood Dance choreographed by Zoobin Surty. Zoobin Surty trained in India in classical and folk dances and graduated from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.

In Karma Dance, Zoobin together with his small troop of dancers, brings his experience from Mumbai and the world of Indian theatre, dance and film to this electrifying performance, which aims to promote Indian Dance culture.
