A group of 16-18 year olds from Hull spent three days with 大象传媒 Blast and the Creative Connexions team at Peat Rigg Outdoor Activity Centre in the North York Moors, getting creative, having fun and perhaps even getting a little scared.
Their task was to put together a 鈥楪host Walk鈥 and then perform their spooky creation in the middle of a dark creepy forest. The group spent the first day getting to know each other, building 鈥榖ivvies鈥 in the woods and taking part in a 鈥榖ush tucker trial鈥. Then it was out into the dark beyond, armed only with a torch and compass, to find their way night-time orienteering. The second day was all about making music and acting out scary scenarios just like in the horror movies.
Using a variety of musical instruments, ghoulish props and costumes to develop their ideas, the group recorded a piece of creepy music and practiced their dramatic performance. The evening brought about the main event. Everyone went to hide in the woods with the intention of scaring each other with their spine-chilling 鈥榮ound-scape鈥 and bloodcurdling performances. After a lot of screaming and even more relieved laughing, everyone went back inside to warm up and tell ghost stories late into the evening.
We asked Kirsty from Longhill how she felt about the past few days: 鈥淚鈥檓 not at home; I鈥檓 here and it鈥檚 great!鈥 Laura from Bilton Grange added, 鈥淚鈥檝e enjoyed coming here because we鈥檝e worked as a team and tried new things.鈥 On the final morning there was just enough time to have a go at archery, 鈥榗rate-climbing鈥 and have a crack at the low ropes obstacle course, before the ghostly team returned home. |
