Around 52 artists will be showcasing their works for two weekends this month. The art on show varies from paintings, pottery, textile, jewellery and sculpture with studios ranging from houses and garden sheds to a wooden shack and also a lighthouse on Spurn Point. The event is organised by artists Anna Kirk-Smith and Carlo Verda from Big Skies, a Bridlington-based organisation which formed recently to promote and support artists across the East Riding. ![]() Saffron Waghorn working outside her studio "There are many open studio events around the country now, but what makes the East Riding event so different is its size, the rurality of its artists and the fact that it is part of a wider campaign to regenerate this fantastic area.鈥 said Carlo. Saffron Waghorn is one of the artists that will be inviting the public to her wooden shack studio situated on the cliff top in Skipsea. A stonemason and sculpture artist, Saffron has received commissions from the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Hull City Council and ArtLink among others and is currently working on a regeneration project for her community using sustainable resources. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a great idea for the public to be able to go into people鈥檚 studio in the region and see what they're up to, talk to the artist and get a feel of their environment and what their work is about.鈥 said Saffron.
