Producing around three plays a year since their inception in 1985, The Chameleon Players are a group of people out for a good time and don't mind doing it in full view of an audience. The people involved all have very different backgrounds. Two members of the cast came onto the Late Show to reveal a little more of themselves and the company.

Brian Watson

Brian Watson from Hull was 'volunteered' into a theatre role during his time as a driver with the Air Force. He was working in Belgium when his superior ordered him to take on the role of assistant stage manager. With barely a few hours notice, he found
himself at the centre of activity at an entertainments' centre and never looked back. He joined the Chameleons in 2002 and during his acting career has found himself performing in a variety of plays from classics to comedies. During his interview, Brian reveals how he literally bared all to an eager audience.

Jenny Stewart orginally hails from Coventry and worked as a hairdresser in the city. When her husband who was working in the motor manufacturing industry in the Midlands changed jobs and came to work for Reckitts in Hull they moved north. Although both were keen to move to the seaside as they'd lived so far inland for such a long time the town of Withernsea proved too remote. Jenny thought it a little too wild and windswept and so they settled in South Cave. It was in 1991 when Jenny joined the players and has had some great fun over the years being involved with a number of productions.

Numbers in the group have varied over the years and often members will take a sabatical for a few years whilst they concentrate on their careers but usually find themselves back on stage again at some time or another.

In addition to the on stage talent there's a small dedicated army of people who work hard to ensure that costumes and music are as good as they can make them. Jenny pays credit to the seamstresses who in her opinion have produced some good
quality costumes.

The group also benefits from the musical talents of Maurice Houlden. He composes and performs original music when required for performances and has been the driving force behind the production of a number of CDs involving the company.

That's a big gun

The next performances from the Chameleon Players take place in March. For three nights from 7th-9th March, they'll be performing three plays by Matthew Wilkie. The plays; Horst Buchholz And Other Stories, Between Stars and 412 Letters are
being performed for the first time outside of London at the Northern Academy Of Performing Arts on Anlaby Road.
