The West Hull Ladies The West Hull Ladies Running Club has around 30 members at present but Chair Lady Susan Duffey is hoping to increase its membership. Susan along with Club Treasurer Victoria Voase and committee members Linda Hields and Emma Arro came into the 大象传媒 Radio Humberside studios to talk about what prompted them to get their running shoes on. The ladies run from the Hull Sports Centre on Chanterlands Avenue North in Hull. Its members are of mixed ability and everyone is supported in their aim to reach their own personal goal. Affiliated to the England Athletic Association, this gives its members, benefits and opportunities which runners training on their own wouldn't otherwise receive. Emma Arro Emma got into running around five years ago and decided she would do the Great North Run. With Susan's help and support she began to train for the event and was pleased to complete it and since then has continued to improve her speed and distance. Lynda Hields Linda, chose to do the Great South run for charity and through a mutual contact became involved with the club. Since her first charity run for Marie Curie Cancer Care she's raised a great deal听 of money for charity and enjoys the friendship and support the club's members share. Victoria Voase Victoria says although she's not a 'natural runner', she wanted a form of exercise that didn't involve to gyms and health clubs and running fitted the bill. She became aware of a women's running club which ran from the YPI in Hull and overcame her initial reluctance to be involved after speaking to Susan who encourage her to take part. Susan Duffy Susan has has been running for around twelve years and was involved in the first 'Race of Life' in Hull'. Taking her inspiration from the Dudley Ladies Running Club which has around 300 members, rather than let the spirit of camaraderie amongst the women taking part in the Race for Life dissipate she decided to help build a local club to support women continue running competitively and as a hobby. For a fee of 拢20 a year, the women who attend the club get help and support in their training to participate in a number of runs across the year. From modest 10k runs, half marathons, road races, cross country running and participation in Champagne Leagues, the club offers a variety of challenges. Although there's an element of competition between other clubs in the city and surrounding areas, the West Hull Ladies are entirely supportive of each other. Emma , Lynda, Victoria and Susan Susan encourages any women who's looking for a personal challenge to join the club and contact details can be found on the club's听 website.
