Bluefin formed approximately 3 years ago, but the current line-up is still relatively new.
Founder member Paul Vane on drums, Steve Baudains on keyboards, vocals and sax, and Kris Watts on guitar and vocals have been the ever-present core of the 'Fins' since their conception. Lead vocalist Rebecca Seller and bassist Lawrie Cunningham are the two latest additions to the band. The Bluefin sound is a blend of classic rock and pop covers spanning 5 decades, thus creating an appeal to a wide audience. The Fins guarantee you'll be rockin' the night away to their vast repertoire of anthems and power ballads. A regular at Chambers and more recently the Star Tipsy Toad, Bluefin are also no strangers to the corporate scene and private functions. However, their most notable moment came on December 11th 2003, when they were crowned joint winners of the Battle of the Bands competition staged by Chicago Rock Cafe. Rebecca Seller Rebecca is Bluefin's first ever female member and represents a complete change in the band's direction. Despite her young age, she has an extremely powerful voice, carrying off songs like "Skater Boy" and "Creep" with ease! She has successfully applied for the next Pop Idol series and we all wish her the best of luck with that! Paul Vane The drummer and founder member of Bluefin, 31 year-old Paul is relatively new to the music scene, having only picked up his first pair of drumsticks in 1994. With his first band The Statements, a 'put-together' band for a two-night stint for a college graduation, Paul played live for the first time after only six weeks experience behind him! Upon returning to Jersey, Paul founded former local band Inside Out, with which he spent the next six and a half years playing both pub and corporate gigs alongside top local musicians, Peter Vogel and Chippy Fryer. When the band went there separate ways in March 2001, Paul quickly set about searching for new talent to form the present line-up with Bluefin. A Manager with the Financial Services Commission, Paul enjoys golf, cycling and fishing in his spare time. Steve Baudains Steve has been playing keyboards and sax for about 22 years. He's played in various bands over the years including 45BC, and has supported 80's rock legends Marillion in the past with local band Outlaw. Steve still regularly plays sax with the Le Rocquier Band, the Jersey Big Band, the Well Swung Jazz Orchestra and "Skavenger", an 8 piece ska/funk band. Outside of music Steve enjoys motorcycling, computing and scuba diving. He presently works as the IT Manager at a local law firm. Kristian Watts " Watson" is one of Jersey's hottest prospects. A self-taught guitarist having studied idols such as Joe Satriani, Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) and Kirk Hammet (Metallica) since he was just 7 years old, Kris is also proficient at both piano and cello. He teaches guitar and piano and is also about to start teaching cello. Kris has played in numerous bands both locally and in the UK, covering all ranges of music from classical to heavy metal, and has won many competitions for performing and composing music. He has varying influences covering blues, rock and metal, and has a great love for the guitar. At the tender age of 22, Kris has achieved a lot in a short time and is a huge asset to the band. Lawrie Cunningham Lawrie has recently joined Bluefin after returning from travelling "broke on his arse" to use his own words. He plays a number of instruments (guitar, bass, drums) and has a very natural style on bass guitar. He was very much dropped in at the deep end, being asked to take part against eight other bands in a competition after only two rehearsals, and help us come a very respectable third. Respec'
