The crowds gather for Jersy Live

Jersey Live - Loved it!

By Bryony le Boutillier
Any one who was at Jersey Live on Saturday September 3rd, (and that would be about half the island,) will agree that THE music event of the summer, which sold out all of its 8000 tickets lived up to its reputation this year.

Arriving at Jersey Live, the atmosphere, along with the sound of the music, hits me even before I reach the gates, a few queues later, I鈥檓 in free thanks to my 大象传媒 pass :) and I鈥檓 hanging out in middle of the field and up front by the stage.

Jersey Live

After a few hours of that, I decided it was time I actually got round to a bit of reporting, after convincing about five men in luminous jackets that I actually did work for the 大象传媒 and wasn't just trying to blag my way in

鈥渁nd yes I know I鈥檓 a bit young but really I鈥檓 telling the truth here鈥

"Crowd looks great, can鈥檛 wait to be out there!"
The Bravery

I managed to get into the main building where I swapped my black wristbands for a purple one with a very important looking 鈥楬鈥 on it (H stands for Hospitality which is one of the backstage areas by the way,) which gets me backstage.

Scanning the backstage area I actually couldn't help feeling just a bit overwhelmed, they had a hot tub, a bar, numerous animal prints couches and toilets that looked like they belonged in the Atlantic!

Not to mention the people, of which there appears to be three groups; the press, that鈥檚 me :) and the others running round with their cameras and recording devices trying to get interviews with the band members; they鈥檙e the second group who are lounging on the couches and hanging out before they go on stage.

Finally there are the 鈥榠mportant people鈥 (sponsors, politicians, friends of the bands鈥) they鈥檙e at the bar or sitting at the tables chatting with the band members and the other 鈥榠mportant people.鈥

The area behind the stage was split in half; through the wire fence I can see the bands dressing rooms but it turns out that unless you鈥檙e in a band, you have about as much chance of getting through there as getting on stage, (turns out I don鈥檛 belong to a band, so I cant get in.) Oh well, time to find someone who can introduce me to some of these people since right now I have absolutely no clue who anyone is.

Fortunately I recognise some people who I know and I get them to introduce me to a few people, I meet Joules who is apparently the 鈥渕ost important photographer around.鈥
Next I meet Aaron from Killian and The OK鈥檚, (this is getting better and better!) I then get introduced to Jane, the head of PR whose job is basically to meet and greet the bands.

Jane seems pretty important so I ask her how I should go about getting into the dressing rooms and it turns out Jane (being head of PR) has full access to the dressing rooms and鈥 (And this is where it gets really good,) she gets me in as well!

Despite protests from the guard Jane gets me into The Ordinary boys鈥 dressing room, they are lovely and I got to chat with Preston; unfortunately the guard is getting a bit anxious so I withdraw to the Hospitality area.

After that surreal experience I move back to the main field to make my friends jealous and get food and when I return to the backstage area Jane grabs me again, and introduces me to The Bravery! they tell me the 鈥淐rowd looks great,鈥 and that they 鈥渃an鈥檛 wait to be out there鈥 when they are on stage I get to go into the section in front of the stage where I can take photographs along with the rest of the press.

Once again backstage, I鈥檓 wandering around by the fence when I spot Kasabian in the dressing room area; unfortunately at this point Jane is not with me so I can only stare like an idiot before going back out on the field to enjoy their performance along with everyone else, which, needless to say was a great end to the day!
