Action from the 2006 Muratti semi-final

Jersey beat Alderney and wind!

Jersey duly claimed their place in the Muratti final in awful conditions in Alderney, and the rest of the day's league and cup action.

Alderney 1 - 4 Jersey

In gale force winds and freezing conditions, Jersey made no mistake in ensuring they would meet Guernsey at Springfield in May.

"I thought we played really well in the first half."
Alderney manager Paul Williams

Against that wind in the first half, Danny Craven put Jersey ahead after 20 minutes, but Alderney equalised with a wind assisted effort from Liam Davey.

But with the wind behind them, Jersey made sure of their superior skill and quality. With just over 20 minutes left, new cap Scott Devlin put Jersey ahead, followed in quick succession by further goals from fellow debutante Peter Vincenti and a second for Craven.

The young Vincenti though was hugely upset after receiving a yellow card, which will put him out of the Under 21 Muratti.

For his father, Jersey boss Peter Vincenti, the match itself was less hairy than the flight over. "We could have killed it in the first half, but all in all it was pretty straight forward. There was never going to be any other result than a win for us."

Paul Williams, Alderney's manager, told 大象传媒 Radio Jersey that he was happy with his side's effort. "I thought we played really well in the first half, when we took advantage of the conditions."

And for Alderney goalscorer Liam Davey, an interesting prediction for the final in May. "Guernsey are a battling outfit, and although Jersey have home advantage, I think Guernsey will pull it off by the odd goal."
