Young footballers at Janvrin School in Jersey are Division One league champions - The title win is the school's first for almost 20 years. "It's a massive achievement." | Coach Phil Walker |
The squad won ten of their twelve league games this season, drawing once and losing only once. They also reached the finals of two Jersey primary school competitions - the Senior Cup and the five-a-side tournament. In total they've played 23 games and they've shone in most... Their average tally per game has been to score four goals and only let one past their keeper. Coach and school teacher Phil Walker is proud of his team: "It's a massive achievement. We have worked hard and the boys have put in extra hours after school so I'm delighted for them," he said. The school's parent teacher association, Friends of Janvrin, have donated a trophy and the boys will be presented with it at a special awards ceremony at Chicago Rock. Phil and his team wish to thank parent Mark Harris for his excellent coaching skills and dedication:听 "Mark has been instrumental in this wonderful season.听 Without his help it would have been a very different season"听 They would also like to thank Headteacher John Du Feu for his continued support and belief. The squad (pictured left to right) were as follows; Lewis Young, Ben Smylie, Jay Giles, James Bellot, Richard Concalves, Aaron Kernaghan and Matti McGhee. |
